Psilocybin Treatment Process (Upon Legalization)

  • Step 1 - Intake

During our client intake session our therapists will get to know you, understand your goals and desire for psychedelic therapy. During this meeting we will create a customized treatment plan aimed at meeting your mental health goals.

  • Step 2 - Preparation

In this session we will dive deep into our therapeutic realtionship in preparation for the upcoming psychedelic medicine session. This will help you to be able to explore your inner world more completely.

  • Step 3 - Medicine

The psilocybin experience typically lasts 6-8 hours. Psilocybin will be administered in a capsule. The effects begin to appear after around 30-45 minutes, peak around 1.5-2 hours, and trail off for the next 2-4 hours.

  • Step 4 - Integration

Psychedelic therapy often raises a variety of insights about us, others, or the world that require time and attention to incorporate into existing worldviews. We assist in understanding, making meaning, and cementing growth from your experience.

Psilocybin Assisted Psychotherapy FAQs

  • The Nashville Psychedelic Center plans to offer psilocybin therapy as part of a psilocybin assisted psychotherapy course. If the current research and governmental shifts continue their current paths, this service should be available in the next couple of years. Although we can’t currently offer psilocybin, we are looking forward to helping others heal with this medicine in the very near future.

  • Use of psilocybin expanded in the United States in the 60s and 70s, especially as part of the ‘hippie’ culture. Increased research in psilocybin occurred during this time period until ultimately the government labeled psilocybin a Schedule I drug and halted research and use. Thankfully in the past few years, research has resumed with a variety of studies. These studies are paving the way for legalization. We will offer Psilocybin Therapy as soon as we are able.

  • The psychedelic effects of some plants and fungi have been known and deliberately used by humans for thousands of years. Psilocybin has historically been used as a psychedelic and entheogenic agent for religious and spiritual ceremonies, as well as a therapeutic option. There is evidence of a long tradition of psilocybin use in indigenous populations in the Americas. Use was suppressed during colonization and follow up legal restrictions. However, the people who knew the healing and transformational effects of psilocybin and other psychedelics continued their use.
